Where the designs started:
The truth is that I started sketching as way to process trauma from my childhood and adolescence. I used to use drugs and alcohol as a way to cope with the things that were too difficult for me to deal with emotionally, but after I gave my life to Christ, I also chose to stop suppressing my emotions through substances. After so many years of sobriety, my past seemed to come back to haunt me. I began having anxiety attacks, insomnia, depression and suicidal thoughts on a regular basis. Feeling overwhelmed by my past and the new strains of present life, I didn’t know how to really process all of these thoughts and emotions. That’s when I began sketching. Drawing helped me through the times when words didn’t come easy. Each image that I drew helped me to come out a little bit more from the dark place that I was in. With each design that I make, my hope is that it would not only look fire but help encourage others like it did for me.
